I tried to make an HP sauce because I love HP with my bacon and eggs, so when I finished making the sauce it was nothing like HP, but it turned out to be a really good BBQ sauce which I poured over my chicken that night. So here is my BBQ sauce and I will continue to make my version of HP.
1 cup of dates
1 tsp of allspice
1 onion diced
1 tbsp of white vinegar
1 tsp of cayenne pepper
pinch of salt and pepper
1 tbsp of honey
1 can of tomato paste
1/2 tsp of cloves
1/2 tsp of mustard seeds
1 clove of garlic
1/4 cup of orange juice
1 cup of water
Place all ingredients in a saucepan and place on medium heat to boil for ten min. lower heat to medium so that the sauce is simmering for about 15 min. once you can feel with a wooden spoon that dates are soft, let cool for ten min and then place in food processor. Process until all ingredients are well combined and looks like thick sauce. Pour into a sterilized bottle and refridgerate.
